Stephanie has extensive experience with eating disorders (AN, BN, BED, OSED, ARFID) and working with people with diagnoses that often co-occur with eating disorders, including but not limited to Depression, Anxiety, OCD, PTSD, Substance Abuse, Relapse Prevention, and various personality disorders.
Stephanie has a deep connection with working alongside those who are struggling with disordered eating patterns and eating disorders in all stages of life. Stephanie is working towards completing her certification as an eating disorder specialist. Stephanie has a passion for working on and attending to body image distortions and distress from the lens of a body neutrality perspective and moving towards embodiment of ones body.
Stephanie also has training in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and is working towards her certification. She enjoys working alongside individuals to create a safe space within themselves by attending to various aspects of their lives (e.g., family upbringing, societal influences, personal experiences) creating awareness and curiosity into the way they make meaning of their lives.
Stephanie utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which is a form of psychological treatment that has been demonstrated to be effective for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug use problems, marital problems, eating disorders, and severe mental illness. She believes in treating the individuals from a holistic perspective to attend to a person’s current life, rather than what has led up to their difficulties. Thus creating a primary focus on moving forward to develop more effective ways of coping with life and circumstances.
Stephanie uses authenticity, validation, and humor to establish rapport with clients and to form a therapeutic relationship that feels safe and comfortable to dive into any topics that clients want to explore. She understands that therapy can be uncomfortable and challenging to initially start or to begin the transition with a new therapist. She is open to any questions that one might have in starting this new journey!
